Technology

Technology at Dutch Creek Elementary

Dutch Creek is a 1:1 school in grades Kindergarten-5th grade. This means that every student in these grades has a device assigned to them. Students in grades 1-5 are automatically enrolled in Jeffco’s TechforEd program and use a federally-funded Chromebook. Our Kindergarten students are supplied with both district- and school-owned Chromebooks. Some students also receive a district-issued iPad.

Most classrooms are equipped with a state-of-the art Mimioboard.

Digital Learning Applications in Jeffco

All students and teachers have access to premium digital learning applications with their Jeffco log-in credentials. A consistent core set of applications allows for student data privacy aligned to state legislation and seamless access for personalized learning. This includes single sign-on (SSO) and integration of applications.

Technology Troubleshooting Guide

*If there is physical damage to your Chromebook, please bring it to Mrs. Workman in the library as soon as possible*

For non-damage issues with your Chromebook, please try these troubleshooting tips:

  • Logging in correctly
    • Only use the Google Chrome browser and make sure you are logged in with your school Google account (ID#@jeffcoschools.us) and not a personal account.
    • Use the "Sign in with Google" button whenever it is presented. For other district applications (like jeffco.schoology.com), use only your school ID number and not your full email, along with your normal password.
  • Update - Make sure your Chrome browser and Chromebook are fully updated.
  • History/Cache - Clear your cache/history to "All time"
  • Restore original Settings - Go into Google Chrome settings and type "Restore" into the search box. Then click on "Restore settings to original defaults".
  • Restart - Click shut down (do not just close the Chromebook). Wait 30 seconds before restarting.
  • Charging - Do not let the battery get below 5%. If the Chromebook is not turning it on, shut down, close the lid, and charge for at least 30 minutes before opening it back up and turning it back on.

Tech for Ed in Jeffco

Jeffco Public School’s 1:1 program provides first- through 12th-grade students in neighborhood and option schools a district Chromebook. This creates an equitable and sustainable model for technology-enabled classrooms that prepares students to thrive in a connected, digital world in alignment with the Jeffco Thrives Strategic Plan.

All students can access a district-purchased and managed Chromebook to personalize their learning. This closes the digital device divide and addresses the inequities in classrooms to transform learning.

Students in grades K-12 can also access a variety of digital applications and consistent tools that give them opportunities to demonstrate learning in creative and challenging ways. Each of the technology tools supports students as creators, collaborators and innovative problem solvers rather than as consumers of information.

The program also allows for professional development and learning for teachers to use the provided tools and devices to transform student learning experiences. Having consistent tools and opportunities for teacher training allows for more challenging learning and student engagement and deeper technology integration.
