December Newsletter
Dear Dutch Creek Families,
I hope you all had a wonderful and restful Thanksgiving break, filled with laughter and time spent with loved ones. It’s so important to pause and appreciate the connections that enrich our lives.
As we welcome the month of December, I want to take a moment to reflect on the meaningful moments we’ve shared as a community over the past month. November was a time of gratitude and celebration. From honoring our brave veterans and active service members to practicing thankfulness in our classrooms, seeing our students and staff embrace these values was truly inspiring. Our staff, alongside 5th-grade students, and Boy Scout troop leaders, hosted a breakfast to honor and celebrate veterans and active service members. Students made center pieces, thank you notes, painted rocks, and more to show gratitude. Honoring these heroes during this tradition is something we value at Dutch Creek and look forward to every year.
Before Thanksgiving break, our students and staff recognized each other by gifting “gratitude feathers”. Students learned about the importance of recognizing those around them that make their lives meaningful. When a student or staff member was recognized, the note of gratitude was written on a feather, announced on the morning announcements, and posted on adorable turkeys for all to see.
As we head into the holiday season, I hope you continue celebrating the unique traditions that bring your family and friends together. Whether it’s a festive holiday, a quiet moment, or a cherished tradition, this time of year reminds us of the importance of love and community.
At school this month, we will continue to focus on kindness, joy, and inclusion, ensuring every child feels warmth and belonging. We’re excited about the special activities and opportunities to learn and grow together as we wrap up 2024 and bring in the new year.
Thank you for being such an integral part of our school community. Your partnership and support mean so much to us. Let’s continue working together to make this month a joyful and meaningful one for all.
Wishing you and your family a safe, happy, and peaceful holiday season!
Warm regards,
Sara Oliver
