A Little Bit About Me

I am married and have four children and two step-children who are grown and out being successful in the world. My husband Bob, is retired and we enjoy traveling and spending time with our children and 13 grandchildren! I am a Native of Colorado and live within the Dutch Creek neighborhood, which makes my commute to school extremely easy and quick. I have two dogs, Charlie and Cleo.

I enjoy shopping, reading, traveling to Mexico, investigating the paranormal, music and theater. I am proud to be one of the directors of the Dutch Creek Drama Club. I view myself as a positive person and a life long learner. I love dark chocolate, coffee and Mexican food.

I am entering my 15th year of teaching. I have a Masters degree in Education and take my position as an educator very seriously. I have been at Dutch Creek for 13 years and have taught 1st, 2nd, 3rd and now 4th grades. I love teaching and can not imagine a better way to spend my days. I believe that every child is capable of learning, discovering and contributing to the world in a positive way. I try to instill in each child a belief that they can be successful if they are willing to put forth the effort. I view each child as a unique individual with strengths and weaknesses and adjust my instruction to meet their needs. I also believe in being the facilitator of learning within the classroom. I encourage collaboration and choice. In my classroom we are a family and we work together to make each day successful.

I look forward to this year and learning and growing with your child.

A Little Bit about Me

I am 30 years old and I grew up in Littleton. I graduated high school from Columbine and got my degree from Metropolitan State University of Denver. I am happy that I still live close by in Highlands Ranch with my husband James! My husband is a Blackhawk Helicopter mechanic in the ARMY and loves to come visit my students throughout the year. He also works at Lockheed Martin and will be visiting the classroom to give us some cool information on space exploration during our science unit. Another interesting fact is that Mr. Marino attended elementary school at Dutch Creek! It is safe to say that our household is full of "dolphin pride"! I also have a son, Tucker Lee, who is my pride and joy. I love to watch him learn something new everyday. Our newest addition, Mia is also keeping me busy! She is a sweet, happy baby who is full of personality!

Teaching is truly my passion, but when I am not teaching I enjoy being with my family, riding my bike, practicing yoga, shopping, cooking, and reading. My favorite animal is a monkey, I love anything chocolate and my favorite restaurant is chick fil a!

I implement my philosophy of education into my classroom lessons every day. I believe that every student deserves the opportunity to learn. I will differentiate the curriculum to meet students’ needs based on their academic levels. I believe that no student learns the same way and by integrating the seven multiple intelligence into the everyday curriculum the students will have choice in the way they learn. As a teacher, I hope to inspire students to look to the future and harness this influence and reach their ultimate successes.

Thank you for taking the time to learn a little bit about me, I look forward to working with you and your child this year!
